50th Anniversary Conference Announcement

Make plans to attend the 50th annual meeting of the Academy of Economics and Finance in Mobile, Alabama, February 13-16, 2013. Many special events and activities will be planned to celebrate a half-century of the Academy. The Academy began in 1963, organized by economists from Mississippi College, the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), Jackson State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. The Academy quickly grew to include the Mid-South states, and then the entire southeastern US. In the last few decades, the Academy has encompassed national and international attendance.

Paper Competitions

Conference Paper Competition: Authors wishing to enter the Best Conference Paper competitions should prepare a hard copy submission to bring to the conference. These are deposited at the registration table in the conference reception area. The papers are evaluated by a committee of judges, and the best papers are announced and awards presented at the 2014 conference at the end of the J. Anderson Davis Luncheon.

PhD Student Paper Competition: PhD students wishing to enter the PhD Student Paper Competition should email a pdf version of their conference paper to the program chair, on or before the submission deadline. The papers are judged prior to the conference and the best papers are announced and awards presented at the J. Anderson Davis Luncheon at the 2013 conference.

Best Undergraduate Student Paper Competition: Undergraduate students presenting papers at the 2013 AEF Conference should email their completed paper to the coordinator of the undergraduate papers sessions (David Boldt, University of West Georgia) by Friday, February 1. Please limit the length of the paper to 20 double-spaced typed pages. Based on the paper as well as the quality of the presentation at the conference, best undergraduate paper awards will be presented at the J. Anderson Davis Luncheon on February 15.
